You have given your herbal tea garden lots of love and attention, and now it’s showing you it’s appreciation by providing you with a surplus of wonderful herbs, well there is a way you can use that bounty to make some extra cash by drying and selling gourmet tea blends.

A lot of people enjoy having a hot cup of herbal tea to relax and feel better, and mass-produced store bought herbal teas just don’t have the same taste and aromas as teas that are made from home-grown herbs, but they cost a lot.

With your extra herbs, you could dry them and create your own brand of gourmet herbal teas to sell on your Facebook page, Etsy as well as locally to small businesses.

Don’t forget to join Facebook Groups that are related to your tea side hustle. Don’t market your teas directly to the Group, be responsive and get engaged and let your bio do the rest.

There are home-grown and blended herbal teas available online for anywhere from $10 for a .8 oz bag to $20 for a 1.6 oz bag, so there is a market out there for your teas.

Here are some things you can do to get your gourmet herbal tea business started.

Look at your extra dried herbs to determine how much of each you have and what types of blends you can make. Remember, these are your blends, so you can always create new ones in order to use your surplus herbs.

Blends for relaxation, digestion and improved sleep always sell well. Don’t hesitate to create some new flavors of your own using dried fruits and spices, start with a few of your favorites and expand your varieties as you go.

Packaging doesn’t have to be expensive, you can use any resealable plastic food storage bag and get some adhesive labels that you can print on your computer or even write out yourself, you can let your creativity loose to decorate your bags, have fun.

Come up with some good, fun names for your blends, make them your own.

Now to get the word out put your blends on Facebook and Etsy, selling online has become a popular way to shop, but you should also reach out to local small businesses to see if they would be interested in putting your teas in their stores or if it’s a restaurant to serve.

A good thing to have when going to the small businesses is a business card, you can find blank business cards that you print on your computer at Walmart or OfficeMax, get a card that makes you stand out to the business owners and don’t forget to leave a few samples for them to try.

The good thing with herbs, is they grow beautifully indoors as well as outdoors, so when your teas start selling well, increase your tea garden, by growing herbs both indoors and outdoors, so you have plenty of herbs growing year round.
